Music Programs

Private Lessons -

Private lessons are offered on most popular instruments and voice. Private one-on-one instruction allows students to progress at their own pace and gain a thorough understanding of musical techniques. Students can begin private lessons as young as 5 years old, and start any time of the year.  Our music teachers, all from the Topeka area, teach a variety of styles. View the schedule/fee page to see which times and days are available.

Group Programs

Guitar Classes

Learn in a fun group of four to eight students.  Learn how to play chords, follow lead sheets, read tablature, and sing and play while learning lots of your favorite songs.   Classes are 50 minutes.  Check scheduling availability.

Vocal/Theatre Classes

This class is designed for four or five students.  Each one is assigned separate songs from various musicals. After teaching the necessary vocal skills in the group lesson format, the instructor then designs a script for the students to perform in conjunction with their vocal pieces.  The students can then perform at the semester-end recital.

College Bound Music Basics

Regardless of your instrument, college-bound students need working skills with the keyboard and a good grasp of theory and ear-training.  We offer this class on an “as needed” basis.  (50 min.)

Exam Preparation

Piano students may choose to participate in Music Progressions, a Kansas Music Teachers festival held the last Saturday of January at Washburn University.  Hundreds of students across the state participate each year.  KMTA member teachers prepare students throughout the year in areas of music theory, ear training, and performance skills. Cost is only $25 and each student receives a private 30 min. lesson from a guest clinician.

Recitals and Concerts

Students are given an opportunity to perform in over 5 recitals held over the course of the year. All of our music recitals have free admission, so the whole family and friends can attend and witness how good a Topeka music education can be!
